System Spotlight: Does Your Business Look Like the Same Business Everywhere?

Your business card uses one logo. Your website uses another. Last week’s social graphic has a completely different font. And somewhere, an old brochure still has your personal phone number.

Each piece may look good on its own. Together, they can make your business harder to recognize—or leave people unsure which details are current.

A mini brand kit gives your decisions somewhere to live. It helps you, a collaborator, Canva templates, and AI-assisted drafts follow the same direction.

Try a quick brand consistency check

Open three things someone might see from your business: your website, a recent social post, and a brochure, business card, or proposal.

  • Are you using approved versions of the same logo?
  • Are the colors and fonts recognizably related?
  • Does the writing sound like the same business?
  • Are the business name, website, email, and phone number current?
  • Can you find the original files and tell which versions are approved?

Choose one rule this week

You don’t need to redesign everything at once. Choose one inconsistency and set a rule.

Example: “All new graphics use the approved logo from our Brand Assets folder. We do not pull logos from screenshots or old social posts.”

Other useful first rules: use the same heading font, check every phone number before publishing, or keep text on backgrounds that are easy to read.

Turn decisions into guidelines

Start a document for your approved logo, colors, fonts, voice, and business details. Add examples so someone else can understand what you mean. Once you test and approve it, date it and call it Version 1.0.

These become your business’s working brand guidelines: a reference you can update deliberately as your business develops.
